Happy Day

The CrossCamp '09 post is waaaaaaaaayyyyy overdue. I apologize to my readers...it has taken me awhile to recoup. We had a lot of Happiness around camp. We had awesome worship - thanks to Joel Hudson and the Hudson River Experience. We had great camp messages - thanks to Pastor Reagan and Pastor Matt. We played hard - thanks to Infinity Sports. We laughed, we jumped, we danced, we loved, we cried, we slept (a little), we stunk. We had a BLAST!!!

Here are some highlights from the week:

1. You can get to Linden by traveling through Centerville. It is not the most direct route, but eventually, you will get there.

2. Yes, when it is 90+ outside, "the princess" (you know who you are) will sweat.

3. I can save a 6th graders life while kayaking on the Duck River; but I will lose my sunglasses and ankle wrap in the process.

4. Apparently SZ works out - and the 5th grade girls notice.

5. Ghetto style was a new addition to the various types of drama we practiced in the music and drama campers choice.

6. Mr GV's heart actually grew Three & Three times & Three sizes & 3 & 3 times & 3 sizes (just like the Grinch's) when he was supervising the running of the stairs.

7. The Perry Co. ER is the size of the Education Suites at the TSC office. They are very helpful when you have fallen and you can't get up (because you've sprained your ankle and you can't bear weight.)

8. 5 days worth of no green vegetables at a meal equal's a trip to Cracker Barrel for green beans on the way home.

9. Thanks to Reagan, and the Hudson River Experience, I got to experience my life long dream of singing in a real band...and...

10. Thanks to DJ, I experienced the most embarassing moment of my life...we will just leave it at that.

And the Most Happy Day came when 40+ kids gave their lives to Jesus during the week (and the weeks since camp). Praise Him from Whom all blessings flow!!! All of the weeks of prep, all of the nightmares I had about registration morning, and everytime I thought "what in the world have I gotten myself into", was completely worth it, when sweet little faces are standing in front of you saying that they want to ask Jesus into their heart. There were 2 kids in particular that really touched my heart. Thank you, Lord, for letting me be their mom and for allowing me to have the job that I have!!! (You might want to press pause on the music so that you can hear the video.)

Once again, as happens often here on the karaoke confessions blog, the words of the song say it better than I ever could!!!

The greatest day in history, Death is beaten
You have rescued me
Sing it out Jesus is alive

The empty cross, The empty grave
Life eternal You have won the day
Shout it out Jesus is alive
He's alive

Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I'll never be the same
Forever I am changed

When I stand, in that place
Free at last, meeting face to face
I am Yours Jesus You are mine

Endless joy, perfect peace
Earthly pain finally will cease
Celebrate Jesus is alive
He's alive

Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I'll never be the same OHH NO
Forever I am changed

Crazy Train

Conversations with Reid:

Ryan: Reid, son, I'm going to need for you to turn down your "crazy" a notch...

Reid: But, Dad, I'm only on notch 3...

Reid's response really surprised Ryan. First, we have never mentioned a "crazy notch" scale before and second, Reid has obviously not only thought about a "crazy notch" scale...he has made one up. I wonder, how far the crazy notch scale goes up? And if this is notch 3 and the scale goes up to say 24 ('cause that's my favorite number), what would a crazy notch of 24 look like?

I think it may be look something just like the words of the song..."I'm going off the rails on a crazy train"!

Happy Anniversary Baby

13 years ago today, June 2nd, I married my best friend. Hon - I love the life that we share together. Happy Anniversary, Baby - Got You on My Mind!!!

I have been so excited for today. I've known since I started a blog that I could use this song today. What's the part we always sing...just the chorus...Happy Anniversay, Baby...Got You on My Mind. So today when I was uploading the song and I realized the song is actually about a love gone wrong and the guy is singing this song to his lost love and remembering how good things were. Oops!!! I guess this is one of those songs that I've heard a million times but never really listened to it. The chorus is just so catchy!!! Obviously, since we are celebrating our 13th anniversary, the verses do not apply to us, so, Ryan, please only listen to the chorus!!!

I love you honey - You are and will forever be the best cabanna boy a girl could have!!! Happy 13th Anniversary!!!
